I deal with money all day. While rewarding I felt something was missing a while back and started moonlighting on the quiet with not for profits. During my work with charitable organisations I discovered something. EVERYONE wants the same thing. We want to make the world a little bit better. After you've donated a little time or money to the good in the world, things start to make a little more sense.
But life gets in the way...
Work, family and life in general keeps most people from volunteering with an organisation and for the most part you do always intend to make that donation but need to choose the right charity.
I thought I'd see if I could change that.
"For every business accounting client you refer to my firm, I'll donate 20% of the first years fees to the Sydney Childrens' Hospital"

Initially, I was worried that people would think that I was inflating the fee to take care of the additional donation (I don't) so I kept the group small and didn't push it.
Big dollars? No. But its more than the group would have donated otherwise. Best of all, it took no extra effort from my colleagues. In return for their generousity, I organise micro networking lunches on my dime and make sure that they get first invites to grow their own network.
So I'm making this public now. At the very least we kick a little bit of good back into a world where everything seems to be going sideways. If you'd like to join our little group of hopefuls or let me buy you a schnitty one day, let me know.
